Parinacota Volcano
Parinacota volcano with its 6,342 meters of altitude is typical of the Atacama Desert. Located in the I region of Chile, to the west of Arica and inside of Luca National Park, in the heat of Chilean – Bolivian plateau.
Its approach allows us to know places as beautiful as the legendary town of Parinacota, known by its old and beautiful church, and the Chungará lake to 4,500 meters of altitude. The fauna is very scarce but it is one of the greater enchantments of the desert.
From the 5,200 meters a glacier begins that arrives until its summit, crowned with a crater of 300 meters of diameter, that supposedly eruption around 16,000 years covering everything that now is the Parinacota town.
By its position the hill is very cold, in the nights it is -14° and -24°.
